What to wear when you're working out!

When you're working out you want to be comfortable and wear breathable fabrics, especially now the weather is starting to warm up. And a question we get asked frequently by our new class members is "What should I wear?", so we are going to answer this for.

During a Pilates and Yoga class your body will be moving a lot. You may be sitting, rolling and lying down. Here are our top tips of what you should wear when coming to any of our classes:

PILATES

Your clothing needs to be comfortable, breathable and form fitting (so your instructor and easily see your form)

What to wear:

  • Clothes that breate, because you will get warm in these floor based classes

  • Bagging tops can be uncomfortable and creep up when performing some movements, we recommend wearing a slightly tighter top to your class

  • You can choose to do the class barefoot or you can bring grippy socks

  • For the men: bike shorts under shorts

  • For the ladies: a good supportive low-impact sports bra is recommended

What to wear:

  • A water bottle is a must, we do provide mats but you are welcome to bring your own.

  • Grippy/non slip socks are great because they provide more traction on the mats.

YOGA

Our yoga classes are slower paced to our Pilates classes and are a wonderful addition to your exercise regime.

What to wear:

  • A comfortable top and leggins, however stay away from very loose tops as they will creep up to your shoulder when performing downward dog! Aim for a top that will stay attached to your skin.

  • Bring layers, even when it is spring or summer. Stretching works best when your muscles are warm. You'll want that extra layer when you are in Savasana in Yoga, because your body will cool down quickly.

  • For the men: bike shorts under shorts

  • For the ladies: a comfortable bra, avoid wires if possible and aim for full coverage.

What to bring:

  • A water bottle is a must, we do provide mats but you are welcome to bring your own.
