You must admit that eating healthy can get boring, eating the same foods day after day. But we can tell you a healthy diet doesn’t have to be this way. Let’s go through a few ways you can brighten up your healthy eating plan.
Re-imagine Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of your day – it wakes up your metabolism. Many of us eat the same breakfast everyday for convenience, and this may work for some but a lot of us get sick of the same old thing every day. Try and shake it up a bit, perhaps it’s easier to have a bowl of cereal during the working week, so on the weekends have something like scrambled eggs and a smoothie or Greek yogurt and fresh fruit. The most important thing is to make sure you are eating a healthy mix of carbs, protein and natural fat to keep you fuller for longer (less chance of a midday blow out).
Plan Your Snacks
Many people trying to be healthy often skip the snacks between your Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner meals, but snacks are important to maintain good energy throughout the day. We are not talking coffee and biscuits as snack, you need to make healthy choices that are going to help with your appetite. Some great snack ideas include – a handful of almonds, hummus and veggies, eggs, peanut butter and celery sticks just to name a few. Healthy snacking will improve overall health, curb cravings, fight weight gain and regulates your mood and energy levels.
Get Creative with Lunch and Dinner
If you’re not sure where to start, then keep things simple with a salad, but spice it up a bit to make it more exciting! You could add grilled chicken or fish, nuts, and a favourite dressing. Likewise, you could experiment with different spices and seasonings. So, if you’re eating grilled chicken for dinner, try adding various spices that sound good to you.
Another option is to explore other cultures through cuisine. Research different ways to prepare chicken, fish, and other lean protein sources or whatever you’re cooking. This makes eating more fun and gives you the chance to learn about another culture!
Eating Out
You’re probably thinking eating out and eating healthy do not go together, right? Wrong! You can enjoy a fantastic night out and still enjoy a healthy meal. Many restaurants have an area on their menu listing out what healthy options they offer. And when in doubt, talk to the server. Above all else, the most important tip on how to make eating healthy more exciting is that you love what you eat.
